About the station
Joy of Sound was originally launched on October 23, 2000 and ran until
2005. After a small hiatus, Joy of Sound returns refreshed, energized
and armed with an arsenal of records that you need to hear.
On Joy of Sound, you will be presented with an eclectic mix of classic
tracks, current tracks and keeping an ear open to what the future has in
store by showcasing the brightest in unsigned/underground talent .Joy of
Sound was launched as an alternative to the new industry standard of mediocrity
that is so rampant on the airwaves. There is no set format, which means
you are guaranteed to hear something old, something new and something blue.
The playlists are specially crafted from the collection. No one is paying
to get their music played. This project is completely not-for-profit. Besides
station ids and quick notes from our our streaming host, Live365, there
is no advertising. The goal here is to showcase the considerable amounts
of music that goes unheard due to mainstream saturation of what will be
most politely referred to here as...well.. shite. It is our belief that
people still want to hear "good music", hopefully Joy of Sound
will fill that desire a bit.
Joy of Sound is also a great vehicle to get YOUR music heard. Yeah, you heard right. If you make music and want to get your stuff heard by a diverse listening population, please make contact. If you would be interested in being added to a playlist and play on our live program 'Joy of Sound', just contact the kind station programmer. All you need to do is send along your request via email or standard mail, and include a press release, a copy of your music on compact disc or a link to where mp3s of your music can be heard. You should hear back within a week whether you have been/will be added to a playlist. Once again, Joy of Sound aims for variety, with special emphasis on indie/alternative (goth, art rock, punk, ambient etc) as there are really no outlets for this sort of music otherwise at all, save for online.
